Using rabbit models, the group showed that GQI can reveal microstructural heterogeneity and distinguish stable from vulnerable plaque, sometimes in ways that correlate with histology. The method was presented as complementary to existing imaging, not a replacement.<br /><br />The discussion emphasized translational potential, especially for gatable human vessels such as the carotid artery, and the possibility of applying GQI to patients with large thrombi or high-risk plaques. Questions from the audience addressed how hemorrhage, calcification, and other components might appear, and what similarities exist between rabbit and human plaque biology.<br /><br />The session concluded with closing remarks, CME reminders, and an announcement of the next Journal Club topic on late gadolinium enhancement CMR.
