Video Summary
The meeting of the Research Collaboration Subcommittee highlighted a wide range of active and newly proposed multicenter pediatric and congenital CMR studies, plus broader infrastructure efforts to speed collaboration. New study proposals included: - IMPACT: a randomized, center-assigned study testing whether 3D-printed cardiac models improve pre-op planning for VAD placement in children with systemic RVs or single ventricles, with bypass time as the primary outcome. - Cardiac Index in Repaired Tetralogy of Fallot: a multicenter retrospective/prospective proposal assessing whether cardiac index from CMR flow measures better predicts outcomes and timing of pulmonary valve replacement than current guideline markers. Ongoing studies reported strong momentum: - Normal ECV/T1 pediatric values: over 100 subjects collected, 10 fully activated sites, and vendor/software comparisons underway. - FORCE: the Fontan registry now includes about 2,000 patients and nearly 3,000 CMRs, with expansion toward 5,000 patients and many more centers. - MASSIVE: follow-up of COVID vaccine-associated myocarditis cases is underway, focusing on the significance of LGE and comparison with COVID myocarditis/MIS-C. - CLARITY: a funded aortopathy registry has 40 sites and aims to model aortic growth, dissection, and death. - Borderline LV: a new multicenter project is being finalized to study CMR predictors of biventricular vs single-ventricle pathways. - Transplant rejection: an R01 proposal is under review to integrate CMR, blood biomarkers, histology, and microRNA. - CeraMIC/CARDOVID and other COVID-related studies also gave updates. Additional initiatives included PRISM, a mentorship network for junior and mid-career imaging investigators; the GAP committee, which ranked key research gaps; and a proposed open consortium/registry infrastructure to simplify DUAs, IRBs, shared databases, and image repositories for future studies.
