Video Summary
The talk explained how cardiac MRI (CMR) is the reference standard for measuring left and right ventricular volumes and ejection fraction, using Simpson’s disk method without geometric assumptions. A mitral regurgitation case showed MRI can reclassify surgical indication. CMR is more reproducible than echo and may require different clinical cutoffs. Artificial intelligence can automate volume curves, but current software is not yet fully reliable enough to replace experts, especially for the right ventricle. Newer models and deep learning may improve accuracy, speed acquisition, automate planning, and even enable single-heartbeat cine imaging.
