Video Summary
Philips Healthcare researchers developed a dual-bank, dual-echo phase contrast MR sequence to measure arterial and venous blood flow simultaneously without velocity aliasing. By acquiring a second echo within one TR, they captured both high and low velocity-encoding banks, improved signal quality, and used phase unwrapping plus filtering for reconstruction. In 15 patients, dual-bank imaging matched standard single-bank measurements for flow and velocity while improving VNR, especially for arterial flow. The method enabled simultaneous assessment of ascending/descending aorta and superior vena cava flow with slightly longer scan time. Potential applications include conditions with wider velocity ranges and 4D flow.
