Video Summary
The talk describes using Doppler ultrasound gating with cine and 4D flow MRI to image and measure fetal cardiac function. Because fetal heart imaging is difficult due to small anatomy, rapid heart rate, and motion from the fetus and mother, the team tested a prototype North Medical Doppler device in 11 healthy pregnant volunteers. They achieved cardiac gating in nearly all cases and obtained usable 4D flow data in five. Results showed visualization of fetal blood pathways and preliminary flow quantification, supporting Doppler-gated MRI as a promising tool for studying normal and abnormal fetal cardiovascular development.
