Video Summary
Dr. Tom Luk presented a 4D flow MRI study of repaired Tetralogy of Fallot, focusing on how pulmonary insufficiency alters right ventricular flow. Compared with other right ventricular dilation patients, Tet patients with severe pulmonary regurgitation showed distinct, localized vorticity and energy loss in the right ventricular outflow tract, especially during diastole. These flow abnormalities correlated with right ventricular enlargement, dysfunction, and reduced exercise capacity. The study suggests 4D flow can better characterize disease severity and may help guide management and timing of pulmonary valve replacement.
