Video Summary
This study evaluated a dual-bolus, simultaneous multi-slice cardiac MRI perfusion sequence for pulmonary hypertension assessment. In 12 patients, 16 lung slices were acquired every 2 seconds on a 1.5T scanner, and automated pixel-wise analysis measured pulmonary blood flow and blood volume. Quantitative perfusion maps matched visual interpretation and clinical diagnosis, distinguishing normal subjects, pulmonary hypertension, and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension. A flow cutoff of 2.71 mL/min showed high diagnostic accuracy. The authors conclude that this radiation-free MRI technique is feasible, accurate, and promising for noninvasive screening, diagnosis, and follow-up of pulmonary hypertension.
